I just love gardening.  I especially love my flower garden.  I am on a mission to get the photos I've taken over the years onto layouts and into a scrapbook devoted to my gardens, both here and at the NH house.

This is the first of those layouts.  Isn't that rose gorgeous?  It's a Peace Rose.  Unfortunately, I've had to remove the rose bush as it had an invincible case of blight.  There's just no getting rid of that once it starts.  My bush would have a gorgeous, traffic-stopping show in late Spring and should have had successive blooms throughout the summer, but the blight caused the foliage to turn yellow and drop off.  It was a sorry state of affairs, I tell you.  Finally, after several years of trying to fight the blight, I decided to just remove the bush.  This was a difficult decision, but when my daughter bought me a gorgeous rose bush one year for mother's day, and it was planted in the same bed as the Peace Rose, and also fell hostage to the blight, I knew it was a decision that had to be made.  It's been two years and I still miss that Peace Rose!
